am committed to education and to changing the current system that is
failing to adequately prepare our children for the 21st century. More
than ever before, improving education in Michigan requires close
coordination between businesses and schools. It requires a commitment by
parents, teachers, and unions to ensure that education dollars are spent
in the most effective ways possible. We must allow fair pay for teachers
in order to attract the very best talent available.

As I go door to door throughout
our district, I am being asked where I stand on the issue of the unborn.
- I believe that life begins at conception.
- I believe in the sanctity of ALL human life.
- I believe that the Declaration of Independence applies to the born and
unborn, and therefore even the unborn “are endowed by our Creator with
certain unalienable rights and that among these rights are life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

I have highlighted JOBS
in bold and large lettering because this topic is vitally important to
the State of Michigan and the people of my district.
Creating and sustaining jobs is not something government can do.
Government can and does get in the way by creating needless
regulations and onerous laws coupled with bad tax policy.
My experience as a pilot at American Airlines and as a consultant
at a tool and die shop has given me a perspective that the typical
politician does not have.
Also, as I have walked the 74th
district knocking on doors and speaking with you about this
issue, you have told me we must lower taxes on businesses and citizens.

As I speak with the residents of the 74th District, I
am hearing from a large number of voters wanting to know where I stand
on illegal immigration. I
believe that securing our national borders must be accomplished soon in
order to protect
America's security. American
politicians spend a great deal of time and money on US Customs relating
to aviation security as a result of 9-11.
I was a pilot for American Airlines during this disastrous time
in our nation's history and saw first hand what can happen to business
and people when our borders are left unprotected.
