Three terrorism experts today delivered a
presentation to both chambers of the Legislature, concerning
possible threats to national security and measures the state
could use to protect its citizens.
State
Rep. Dave Agema, R-Grandville, attended the presentation and was
impressed with the range of expertise and relevance of the
topic.
"The
discussion reinforces the importance of stopping illegal
immigration because of the effects it has on homeland security
within the state of Michigan and the greater United States,"
Agema said.
Agema
has sponsored a number of measures in the state House aimed at
protecting Michigan borders from illegal immigration.
"I
hope the presentation was helpful in educating my colleagues
about the importance of guarding our borders," Agema said.
"There are significant risks associated with illegal
immigration, and as today's speakers reiterated, one of those
risks is the spread of terrorism."
